My name is Mike. I have Cerebral Palsy, a disability that impairs my muscle movements and my speech. I'm a songwriter, author, mixing engineer, and motivational speaker. And I'm about to come to the gulf coast for 6-7 weeks in January for a local media and speaking tour and need some assistance during my stay in town. I need help with personal care as well as other tasks including , workout routine, helping me communicate, writing on the beach, day trips, going to concerts, and sightseeing as you schedule allows... PERSONAL/PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANT

Brief Job Description

 Main Objective:  To assist Mike with daily living activities to enable him to lead a normal and productive life

Supervised by: Mike 

General Qualifications:  Willingness to perform personal, household, and business related tasks.  Willingness to learn.  Ability to comfortably drive van.  Dependability, sensitivity, flexibility, patience, physical strength, strong phone presence

 General tasks include, but are not limited to 

            Main Tasks- assist Mike with:

  • Eating/drinking

  • Dressing- coat/sweatshirt, etc

  • Personal/professional phone calls                       

  • Driving conversion van/operating lift

  • Paperwork

  • Errands

  • Daily text check-ins- ensuring Mike’s safety

  • Helping Mike recruit/hire additional support staff as needed

  • Following emergency procedures- if needed

             Other tasks:

  • Maneuver wheelchair when needed

  • Performing basic maintenance on wheelchair, etc

  • Light housekeeping, occasionally assisting with laundry

             Personal care in an emergency:

  •  Transfers between wheelchair, toilet, and bed

  • Hygiene, i.e., quick wash up and shower, brushing teeth,

  • cleaning flipper teeth

  • Wash/shampoo hair

  • Toileting, including holding urinal in place, urinating in the toilet, condom catheters, occasional suppositories if needed

  • Workout/Training routine

             Other activities as needed
